ISLAND MOVING CO. ANNOUNCES 2010 SEASON SPONSOR
RANDAL S. POIRIER
Randal S. Poirier, ChFC, of Independence Financial Partners is the 2010 Season Sponsor for Newport's Island Moving Co. The announcement of the season and the sponsorship took place at the Company's Open Rehearsal for the reprise of Dracula at Belcourt Castle at the studio at 3 Charles Street in Newport on Friday, March 5th.
Poirier, who, with his wife has long been a fan of the Company, won the sponsorship at auction at the Company's Shangri-La Gala in 2009. ""I am truly excited about sponsoring IMC's 2010 season. After all, as Winston Churchill once said, 'We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.' I am more than happy to help support Island Moving Company and its dancers who truly inspire our love for the performing arts year in and year out."
Randal Poirier Renews Financial Support of After School Club

$5,000 gift helps underwrite expenses for “the best value in town”
The Little Compton Community Center is pleased to announce the second annual pledge of $5,000 from Randal S. Poirier, ChFC, a Financial Planner and Little Compton resident, to support the After School Club. The program is dedicated to the care and well being of elementary school-age children during after school hours.
“My goal is to help local families and business owners navigate to a secure financial future,” says Mr. Poirier, “when so many families are suffering financially, it’s extremely satisfying to be able to give ongoing financial support to this valuable community program that provides children with a well supervised, safe environment each day after school.”
According to Stewart Lanier, Interim Executive Director of the Little Compton Community Center, “We sincerely appreciate Mr. Poirier’s annual support. It will help us to continue providing our children with a healthy and fun-filled experience: building self esteem, cooperation and responsibility while having fun and making new friends.”
The Little Compton Community Center After School Club provides
affordable and scholarship supported quality childcare for children (ages 5
to 12) and provides activities such as; homework time, arts and crafts,
sports play, hands-on science and links to the community. Space is
available for each day of the school week from 2:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.;
we also welcome drop-ins who have filled out appropriate paperwork.
The After School Club is currently working on two projects with the
Sogkonate Garden Club that will be entered into a national contest and a
local exhibit in February. The first project is the 2010 National Garden
Club Poster Contest of Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl through the R.I
Federation of Garden Clubs. The second project involves the creation of
foam spheres, decorated with dried and/or treated plant material, to create
the appearance of a globe of the earth. The globes will be entered in the
Rhode Island Federation’s Flower Show, “Everything Old is New Again”
on February 18th-21st at the R.I. Convention Center.
