ISLAND MOVING CO. ANNOUNCES 2011 SEASON SPONSORSHIP BY

RANDAL S. POIRIER OF INDEPENDENCE FINANCIAL PARTNERS

 

            Randal S. Poirier, ChFC, of Independence Financial Partners is the 2011 Season Sponsor for Newport’s Island Moving Co.  Mr. Poirier joined Executive Director Dominique Alfandre and Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen on the stage of the newly restored Stanford White Casino Theatre this spring to announce the continuation of this important partnership.

                This is the second year that Poirier has been the high bidder for the season sponsor opportunity at the Island Moving Co.’s annual Opening Night party.  “I am excited about continuing to support Island Moving Co. and their great work in the schools and as a growing force to be reckoned with in the dance world,” said Poirier, who, with his wife has long been a fan of the Company.  “The arts have always been an important part of my life and I am happy to be able to be part of this organization and to help support its dancers, who truly inspire our love for the performing arts year in and year out."

    The 2011 season is underway, with the second Great Friends Dance Festival in preparation for its July 21-31^st run at Newport’s Great Friends Meeting House this summer.  The Company performed in New York in May, and at the Stanford White Casino Theatre, presenting the premiere of two new works.  In the fall, the Company will present its fifth biennial Open for Dancing site specific dance and art festival and the Tenth Anniversary of the Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff.  This announcement coincides with the launch of the Company’s new website at islandmovingco.org, including links to Randal Poirier’s Independence Financial Partners, new pictures and videos and new platforms for connection to the dancers and Company news.

"Randal Poirier Makes 3rd Annual Gift to After School Club”

The Little Compton Community Center is pleased to accept the third annual gift of $5,000 from Randal S. Poirier, ChFC, a Financial Planner and Little Compton resident, to support the After School Club.

“My mission is to help local families, business owners, and non-profits navigate their way to a secure financial future,” explained Mr. Poirier, “I am fortunate enough to be able to give some assistance to the young children of our community, and I am thankful for the opportunity to provide this support to such a valuable program that provides children with a fun, well structured, and safe environment each day after school." 

"We sincerely appreciate Mr. Poirier's annual support," said Gina Malloy, LCCC Executive Director.  "It will help us to continue providing our children with healthy and fun-filled after-school enrichment: building self-esteem, cooperation and responsibility while having fun and making new friends."

The After School Club is offered to children (5-12 years) in the community from 2:45 to 6:00p.m. following the school calendar throughout the school year.  The Club provides supervised age-appropriate activities such as: homework time, arts and crafts, sports play, hands-on science, and community activities.
